Personal anecdote
By Cody Hobbs
Changing between two talk-radio shows on my drive home from work, I listend as two talkshow hosts disscussed the same issue - the avian bird flu. Both bashed an executive order signed by President Bush, April 1st of this year, athroizing a milartized quarinteen in case of a wide spread outbreak. Read more about it here. Both hosts blasted outrage, saying that a manditory quarinteen is unconstatutional, and is in violation of our civil rights as Amercians. With the exception of one host being a man, and the other a woman, it was as if I were listing to the same two people. But there was one glairing differnce. One host, the auther of three best selling books, namely "Liberlisim is a Mentel Dissorder", is an avid Conservative. And the other, if you hadn't guessed by now, a flamboyant Liberal. The dialog was exactly the same. The only differnce being, one cursed liberals, and the other damned conservatives.
I share this with you do demonstrate the utter insanaty of partisan warfair. The worst thing aobut this is, both blaimed the other party! Mike Savage said the quarinteen was a liberal ploy to supress "real" issues, and the other (not sure of her name) insisted it was a Republican covert plot against the American people. How far gone is our political system when, even when we agree, we still have to disagree?

Hey Cody
As you know over this passed weekend I was evautated due to that fire not far from here. I as I was sitting in my crappy motel room wondering when and if I could go home I felt abandond by the local news. They showed very little on the " Mill Creek/ Angelus Oaks" Fire, insted they covered at nausium the Burbank fire and the Box Canyon fire. I just feel like they did not care about the 400+ families that had to leave their homes over the 40 some families that had to leave theirs. When did 400 become less then 40?
Now its my opinion that they see people who live in Forest Falls and Angelus Oaks as dumb mountian folk that shouldnt have been there in the first place. They choice to cover the news for the rich and by the rich and its not fare. Just because the people who contral the media and the networks them selve are in burbank doesnt mean you can ignore the hundreds of people in the mountians. Sure we know the risks we took when moving here but that doesnt mean we dont need to have information on any emergancies here. Anyway Im just pissed off that I didnt hear much of anything from the local news on the fire.
At one point it went like this
"and now to the Box Canyon fire"
ten minates later
" And now to the burbank/ Castaway fire"
ten minates later
"and there is also a fire in the san bernadino mountains"
ten seconds later
" and now to weather"
I just thought you should you should know. I dont know if you will write about this in your blog but I hope you do. BTW I really enjoyed reading it and keep it up.
